Ekalavya Das was born in 1965 to a New York Jewish family of musicians and engineers. He plays more than 16 musical instruments. Ekalavya Das received his diploma in Music Production and Engineering from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston.
After graduating from college in 1987, he traveled as a professional musician and spiritual seeker to more than 25 countries, including Brazil, Argentina, Morocco, Switzerland, Germany, Italy,and North America.
In 1991, Ekalavya Das joined the Hare Krishna movement in Ireland, and walked on devotional pilgrimage through England, Holland, Belgium, France and Spain. Based in India since 1992, he is currently based in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, and enjoys sharing Krishna Consciousness.
Ekalavya Das receives great inspiration from ISKCON’S Founder-acarya Srila A.C. Bhakativedanta Swami Prabhupada, a great exponent of vedic culture and wisdom.
In pursuance of teaching Hare Krishna chanting on a global level, Ekalavya Das is working with a team to organize World Holy Name Week, a non-sectarian festival to celebrate the chanting of the names of God.
The Bhaktivedanta Band is a project that Ekalavya Das is participating in offering live performances of Hare Krishna kirtan as well as multi media productions to music lovers and youth of all ages.
Ekalavya is a well known traveller visiting USA, France, England, Spain, Germany, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Croatia, Slovenia, Guyana, Trinidad, Russia, Mauritius, South Africa, Dubai, Oman, Kuwait, Abu Dabi and Sharjah.
The Bhaktivedanta Band features Gopinatha Prabhu from Finland, who now resides in Mayapur, and Pradyumna Prabhu from Kolkata. Gopinatha Prabhu plays the Bass Guitar, and Pradyumna Prabhu is an accomplished professional keyboard player. Pradyumna’s brother, Chaitanya Prabhu, also sings with the Bhaktivedanta Band.
Ekalavya Das and The Bhaktivedanta Band CDs and Videos are available at a stall near the entrance. They are appreciated by both young and old devotees.
